An afternoon in Saint-Dié-des-Vosges
We have spent an afternoon in Saint-Dié-des-Vosges where we have visited the University IUT with Thomas Idoux. The IUT is a University Institute with a big recording studio where we have shooted films and commercials. This studio is the only one in France where you can take lessons.
Later we took a walk through Saint-Dié-des-Vosges with Romain Durain who showed us a Street Art Project with sixteen different frescos. They have been created by artists from Spain, France, Belgium, Uruguay and some other countries. This was a very nice trip even if it was very cold.

Open house at Europaschule Rövershagen
Every
year on a Saturday in January our school opens its doors. Hundreds of parents
and younger students come to visit our school to see what it has to offer.
During the past two years we had a booth right next to the entrance to show our Erasmus+ Media
project. Many people stopped to watch the project videos that we were showing
on a video screen or to try to solve our Europe puzzle. This way we could
disseminate the project and at the same time attract more possible students.
Students of the media project took videos of that day and created an “Open
house” video in their media course.

Pen pals in times of social media: New friends in Europe
Our new contacts with different schools in Europe offer the chance to create various projects with European students. Unfortunately, only a few students can participate in our Erasmus+ exchanges.
However, we wanted other students to be in contact with students in Spain, France and Sweden as well. Starting in the end of 2018 we have created a pen pal project with voluntary participation in classes 7 and 8. We were positively surprised to have 80 students in our school who were excited to start writing the first letter. Many of them were really creative and even packed photos and some other small items. They were so proud to write a whole letter in English and sometimes even in Spanish or French which they only started learning a few months ago. The most important aspect is to understand each other and to learn something about students from other cultures and countries.
Despite the digitalization all over European schools we chose an “old medium” for the written exchange. Most of the students have actually never received an actual letter before – everyone communicates via Whatsapp or Snapchat. Now we can see many happy faces when the new letters arrive.
